He got the reward for a picture of the Benalla-Monash bridge in the Night Photography classification.
The Golden Electronic camera Awards are held by the Universe of Colour Photography, which offers an online platform to use an easy way for expert and amateur professional photographers to release their work.
It presently has more than 55,000 contributing photographers.
Mr Martens stated he took the winning image in March last year.
” I left the set as an extra for the film being (shot) out in Winton Wetlands and it was too late to go to bed but too early to go house, so I stopped at the Benalla-Monash bridge and got a couple of photos,” Mr Martens stated.
Honour: Rene Martens got this digital certificate from the UCP.
“It did get an award for photo of the month (however) I didn’t believe much of it then.
“Nevertheless, today I got an e-mail to say that I had been among individuals picked to be the photographer of the year and took into the Hall of Popularity.
“I don’t get lots of awards these days– primarily because I don’t get in numerous competitors.
“(But) it is always good to get some acknowledgment at times for the images I take,” he said.
Congratulations from everyone at the Ensign.
