That’s basically what took place to Paul McCartney, who recorded a gold mine of 35mm photography during The Beatles’prime time that will be shared in an approaching book entitled 1964: Eyes of the Storm. Out June 13th through Liveright, 1964: Eyes of the Storm assembles 275 photos McCartney took near the end of 1963 and beginning of 1964, simply as Beatlemania caught on like wildfire in the United States. Captured in Liverpool, London, Paris, New York, Washington, D.C., and Miami, the photos convey the “pandemonium”in which Paul, John, George, and Ringo found themselves in– state it with us now– the eye of a storm. Pre-orders are ongoing.” Anybody who finds an individual relic or family treasure is quickly flooded with memories and feelings, which then set off associations buried in the haze of time, “McCartney writes in a declaration.”This was precisely my experience in seeing these photos, all taken control of an intense three-month duration of travel, culminating in February 1964.
