Guwahati Food lover, the biggest dedicated food-related community in the area, handed out the rewards of its ‘ethnic food photography contest’ on December 25.
Tapanjyoti Bora, Sikha Tamuly and Rajashri Gogoi were awarded in the event held at Heritage Khorika dining establishment in Guwahati.Expert of Assamese cuisine Chef Atul Lahkar turned over the awards to the 3 winners of the contest. Each of the winners, got a trophy, a certificate, a gift and food vouchers as their awards.Guwahati Foodie organised the competition to highlight the rich heritage of ethnic cuisines from the state and the entire Northeast region. More than 500 entries came from throughout the country for this contest, out of which 3 were selected as winners. The winners were decided by a panel including eminent individuals from both the world of food, in addition to the world of photography.Speaking about the contest, Sisir Kumar, the owner of Guwahati Food lover stated: “This contest is our modest effort to protect as well as promote the abundant palette of Assam and the whole Northeast. We arrange this contest annually to encourage increasingly more people to try in addition to showcase the ethnic foods on social media. And this spreads awareness in addition to inquisitiveness about the food of the region. “This yearly contest of Guwahati Foodie aims to honor World Tourist Day and World Food Day every year. While the contest opens for entries on September 27, it ends on October 14. This edition of the contest was supported by Barbecue Country, Fat Stomach, Momo Ghar, Asian Restaurant, Purabi Dairy, Sterling Reserve Packaged Drinking Water, Discover East and Life’s Purple.Chef Atul Lahkar pointed out: “I wish to congratulate all the participants of the competition and not simply the winner.
