A few days ago, Boyd Yarbrough popped into my workplace at the Oren Dunn City Museum with a stunning portrait, perfectly framed. At the photo’s lower right-hand corner rested the name of the photographer: George Ambrester.Impressed by the style
, the lighting and the sheer history of it all after Boyd informed me Ambrester had quite the track record with his studio, I started looking. Sure enough.Ambrester reached
the height of his profession as a studio and picture professional photographer throughout the 1950s in Tupelo. He preserved an office and studio on South Green Street. But his reach extended much further.
